I don’t know about you but I rely heavily on Pinterest for hair and makeup recommendations. I like to go look at dupes, see what is worth spending my money on, and trying them out. I also like to see what other people say about products before I spend my money on something that everyone else had already said they hated! What a waste!!! So today, I compiled a list of my holy grail products and tools.
Now I don’t use holy grail lightly. These are things that I swear by; I use them every day and do not venture from them at all. With the exception of two makeup products (I got them for my wedding and have been hooked ever since) I have used all of these for multiple years. They are my tried and true. I recommend them to anyone who will listen and will continue to use them on my kids if they last that long! Seriously, I don’t take holy grail lightly.

I can’t say that I use each of these products every single day because I am notorious for rocking a top knot and not washing my hair for days on end, neither of which require product. But when I do do my hair, I am a product fiend!!
This iron gets hot enough to hold curls for multiple days! It has a nice temperature dial that is easily set for any personal preference and my hair does not get caught in the clip like other irons do. It has lasted me two years and counting and is only $30 when ordered online. It is easy to clean product off with a little rubbing alcohol and elbow grease. All around solid product.
Apparently, this is what professional hair stylists use on their clients. My one pet peeve is crunchy hair spray or hair spray that does not hold because it is not crunchy. This spray is amazing. I am not sure how it is done, but it is the finest mist and holds all day! I still have natural movement in my hair and I can run my fingers through it easily, which I do when I am thinking a lot (so it is crucial I am not crunchy!). I will admit the smell is a bit strong, but it dissipates very quickly. I quickly became accustomed to it: just take a deep breath before spraying! I mist my hair every couple of curls to try and get as most covered as I can and then one all over spray at the very end.
This product is becoming a bit hard to find, I have to make a special trip to CVS for it now, but it is so worth it. I have tried several texture sprays and nothing puts grit into your hair like Texture Tease. It makes your hair almost “dirty” for lack of better descriptions. By doing that, it makes curls easier to hold and last longer. I spray this throughout my hair before I ever start styling and then again after I have sprayed hair spray. It does make it tangle much quicker at the end of the day, but nothing that is not manageable. When I don’t use this, my hair is slippery and almost slips out of the curling iron, making it much harder to curl initially and almost impossible for the curls to last all day.
“Bigger the hair, closer to God” was coined by this product. It is a miracle worker. Again, I have no idea how this works, but after putting it in wet hair and blow drying my roots upside down my hair is so voluminous without any more work. If I do tease it, this has enough grip to hold the tease and really get that volume I want. However, this needs to be used sparingly as it can create a greasy look and really stiffen the hair if too much is applied.
This is the newest product in my must haves, but it makes my hair so shiny and gives that extra hold throughout the day. I need this especially on humid days. Summers in Texas are practically like walking in a swimming pool every. single. day. After I am done curling, spraying, messing up, and spraying some more I top everything off with a quick covering of this and am good to go for the entire day without looking like a mangy frizz ball as soon as I step outside.
This is a must have after I wash my hair. It prevents split ends, gives my hair some moisture back, and creates a shiny look. Who doesn’t love shiny hair? Because my hair is so long, I cannot afford to skip this product after a shower. My ends feel so dry and fragile if I do. I can only imagine what the heat does to it when it’s in that state too. I just put a quarter size drop in my palm and just apply to the middle and ends of my hair. Getting it too close to your scalp will make you look greasy and not shiny- and nobody likes the grease monkey look!
This paired with the finishing spray is my favorite combination for humid days. This product is also a little heavier, so when my curls are a bit tight for my taste adding some of this will tame them down and loosen them up (or weigh them down so they appear looser). I truly think humidity has met its match.
Do I really need to say much about this one? I’ve been using this one since I’ve… had hair. It’s a lifesaver with my super thick hair and my tendency to not wash it as much. Sidenote- this is not found in the hair section rather in the baby section by the diapers and baby food. It took me asking someone years and years ago to finally find it!
I have so many more products to prove that I seem to try them all but these are my favorites. I recommend each to my little sister, and I only tell her about my best products! They really are all health improving, protecting, and a necessity in my mind.
Notice I do not have a heat protectant in there! I am on the look for one as I have not found any that I am dying over. I would love recommendations!
